Framing the Maas
Private Apartment
2025
Framing the Maas explores how atmosphere and identity can be shaped within the fixed constraints of a rental apartment. Rather than altering the architecture, the project focuses on composition, materiality, and furniture to create cohesion and a calm spatial rhythm.
Warm oak, muted tones, soft textiles, and black accents were carefully layered to visually connect the spaces while maintaining openness and clarity. The shelving composition became both a functional element and a way to curate personality within the apartment.
A key part of the process was understanding how the interior could support the surrounding view rather than compete with it. Sightlines towards the Maas were intentionally preserved, allowing light, water, and horizon to become part of the daily spatial experience.
Careful attention was also given to visual composition, ensuring a cohesive identity throughout the project.
